EMBRACE
Water creates pressure
and that pressure has the ability to navigate to the point of least resistance. for a brief moment,
There is resistance on the surface;
as soon as you pass that point,
It becomes an embrace.
INTENTION
Our Bodies of Water are in constant interaction with what surrounds us.
The environment and the self inform each other and they redefine each other constantly.
It is through our Bodies of Water as living centers of intentionality that we choose our world and our world chooses us.
As all Bodies of water, we slowly but surely form new landscapes.
With water and its properties as metaphors, we, as humans,
need to understand and relate to the ruling principle of these interactions, which enables us to create harmony instead of conflict.
Creating ties that hold us together,
and generating never-ending flow.
APPROACH
Our chosen approach in Bodies of Water is physical,
and deals with the dynamics and architecture of relationships,
from the mere presence of two -or more- bodies interacting and absorbing the existence of each other.
The relationships between the performers have always been central
to what we create within the framework of Beirut Contemporary Ballet.
This performance was created and danced by the core dance artists of the company in Lebanon.
JOURNEY
This piece was created around the concept of working with 3 dancers interacting on stage at all times. 3 will be the constant but it leaves room to interchange and/ or add dancers.
This piece will take a different forms later this spring in Cuba with our partner company Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaquey and again this summer in Europe, with Anthony Nakhle who will join the performance adding to it "Anthony's Body" - a work in progress -
